Probably everyone has heard by now.. Hangar 9 is going to be open again in a matter of days. Despite the rumors, it won't be open this weekend, and the B-40s/Himalayas show that was supposed to be there unfortunately got canceled because construction isn't quite done yet. We got the chance to look around inside yesterday and it is going to be a seriously insane place to see shows. Should be pertty cool. We also got a chance to look at the list of shows happening there in the next few months and it is pretty damn good. Here are some of the highlights that are happening really soon:
12/17: TWEAK BIRD, Spokesmen, Birth
12/18: Copyrights, Shithawk
12/23: Raccoon Valley Showcase w/ Sprickets, Whistle Pigs, The Heat Tape
1/13: The Generationals (new orleans), Shithawk
1/28: Lost In The Trees (chapel hill), n_____ n____
I'm sure there will be a lot more than that.. in fact I've already heard of a lot more than that but I can't remember the dates.. Nic has been doing a killer job booking there, so look out cause things are gonna get crazy fast. We're working on getting some stuff in there this spring that will blow yo mindzzz.

MECCA MIX 006
Our usual man of the mecca mix has been kicking so much ass lately we decided to give him a week off and let a guest get in on the action. Wanting to keep close to tradition, we subbed in David Brown for David VDG and gave him free rein. This is what he had to say about it:"I put together a comp this morning because I'm extremely nervous about my cat being at the vet all day. I needed something else to focus on. Pop music. It's not an all-inclusive compilation...that would be impossible. It's not really even an accurate overview. Things are missing. Some of my favorite bands/songs didn't even make the cut. Some of it's a bit obvious (but, damn it, I love the Beatles and this isn't a contest). Regardless, I think it does a fine job of exhibiting how pop music can be unassuming/ornate, uplifting/depressing, sweet/snotty, uninformed/hyper-intelligent... and on and on and on."
Thanks DB. His new band is going to be playing at the Skihouse next Friday with Icarus Himself from Madison and Himalayas.
