Bye Bye Birdies

Tonight it is time to say bye-bye to everyone's favorite all-lady local band, Catholics & The Pill. Lizard and Lauren are both moving away ( inset :( here) so come party with them, and catch them one more time on their home turf at the Skihaus. Small Bones from NOLA and new local band Bob Sacramano will be there as well. Wahh!

Wild Wednesday

There is an awesome show for a killer deal coming up this Wed. at Hangar 9. The Dead Ghosts will be in town from Vancouver, Canada (that's like 2,352 miles away..), they have a killer LP out on Florida's Dying Records, and they been busy playing shows with awesome bands like Nobunny, Thee Oh Sees, Shannon & The Clams, Dutchess & The Duke, Smith Westerns, Time Copz, TacocaT, etc.. Should be a good time. If that wasn't enough, Catholics & The Pill are playing, and they should be tighter than ever, having just recorded 3-songs for a 7" straight to tape at the skihouse (we'll get them up here soon). IF you're crazy and that wasn't enough, Josh Murphy (of Black 40s) will debut his solo project, Wild Murphy, and he is supposedly almost finished with a full-length solo album. Black Fortys are currently on tour, at SXSW right now, and they are touring with a band from Brooklyn called The Yes Way, AND they will be playing too!

Such a killer show at Hangar 9 tonight: Jacuzzi Boys in town from Miami, FL, PARLOR back in action (with some new jams possibly?! plus B Haley is becoming a long-hair..), and Catholics & The Pill's first bigtime show. If you were lucky enough to catch them at the Skihouse last weekend, it was awesome! Can't wait for tonight!!

There's something special about Skihouse Sunday shows, and this one is gonna be a good one. Fergus & Geronimo will be in town from Denton TX, they've been on tour for a little while now promoting their new LP "Unlearn" which just came out on Hardly Art (they're playing a sold-out show in Chicago tonight with Smith Westerns, bet it is sweeeet). Catholics & The Pill are playing too, it will be their first show on their home turf at the Skihouse. It that wasn't enough, the lovely Matt M. is back in town and Secondary Modern is also playing, and they are about to go on a quick tour around the midwest right after the show. Come to this show on time it's a school night!!!!

Lost Cross 2nite

Pretty rad show going down at the Lost Cross tonight, straight-ahead punks Strong City will be in town from Iowa, and they're playing with the old timers in It Burns as well as new timers Catholics & The Pill and The Heat Tape. I've been listening to Catholics & The Pill practice all week (not of my own free will mind you..) and they are sounding pretty awesome, they've added a new member and have a bunch of new songs. We've heard The Heat Tape have an album coming out soon too..? Anyone know if there is any truth to that? We hope so.

There is so much new stuff going on in Carby right now! There are at least 6 new bands we've heard about, some old ones coming back, venues opening, etc. We've got a hold of new recordings by some of your favorites that we'll be dropping on you soon, but right now it's time to talk about brand new bands that nobody has seen yet! Three of them are playing at the Lost Cross tonight, and the donations are going to Friends of the Lost Cross who are trying to keep that place running. Catholics & The Pill is a new band featuring Lauren and Alix of Staring Problem and Elizabeth of Small Time London Thug, I spied on them practicing the other night, shit is sweet! Witch Trial has played one show before but I think most people missed it, it is Nick from The Shakes, Not Healthy, and Conniption Fitts fame and Jake from Staring Problem, along with their assistant Alice. The band that you may have heard the most about is The Heat Tape, which is Brett from Shithawk and Copyrights along with Brooks from Sprickets and everyone's favorite Ben. They've been busy recording, you can buy their mp3s below. Doo it!
