Nighty Night Tour & Varsity Show

Our pals Nighty Night are currently in the middle of an East Coast tour, and when they return they will be playing at the Varsity Theater, giving you the first chance to see some local bands play in the awesome sounding room without having to pay $10+. The show is a benefit for The Science Center of Southern Illinois, so the $5 advance / $7 door ticket price is going to a good cause. Also playing is Wei Zhongle (aka Rob Jacobs Ensemble II, aka China Band), and if you haven't had a chance see them yet, they are amazing and are playing some of the most interesting music we've ever seen in Carbondale. Doors for the show open at 7:30p, and the show starts promptly at 8:oop. Advance tickets are available at Plaza Recs, P-mac, and the Practice Pad. More info here.

It's not too often a band from a different country rolls through Carby.. but tonight one is coming from a different Continent.. A different Hemisphere!! And if that wasn't enough, they sound sweet too. ALPS from Australia will be playing at the Litterbox tonight.. go out and show them a good time!!

Also playing is newest incarnation of the Rob Jacobs Ensemble, Rob Jacobs Ensemble Presents : Wei Zhongle. If you missed them play at the Skihaus a few weeks back, they slayed everyone. It was awesome. AND Owls & Crows are playing too. To the Litterbox!

Useless Eaters

There's a badass show coming up in a week.. Useless Eaters from Nashville via Memphis are coming to town, we've been trying to make this happen for over a year now, so we're pretty stoked it is finally happening. They've got a string of killer 7"s out on a number of amazing labels, like Goner Records and Tic Tac Totally, and they are about to drop an LP on Southpaw later this summer. PARLOR and FREEDOM RIDE are playing too.. holy shit this is gonna be heavy.
