Parlor / The Trade by babiemecca
I love carbondale bands because of the amount of reckless energy they bring, and even though each band is unique, the cdale scene has always been a loud one.
ReplyDeleteWhat makes parlor stand out to me is the way their vocals seem to provide the metronome for the song, in the way the lyric is an even-paced, almost chanted delivery. Then the minimalist guitar and syncopated drums just riff... it's like the vocals swap roles with the rhythm section and its the drums and guitar that are really trying to tell the story. Hope that makes sense.
End result: Definitely my favorite stuff in cdale right now. We needed something upbeat like this that wasn't thrashy punk. It's like the yardbirds meets a johnny quest safari.
